About Us

What is IALAS?

Indonesian Association for Laboratory Animal Science (IALAS), known nationally as Perhimpunan Peneliti dan Pengguna Hewan Laboratorium Indonesia is a non-profit organization established in 2012. The main mission of IALAS is to promote proper care and use of animals in research, testing, education and other scientific activities in Indonesia.

IALAS consists of members with various educational background, including scientists, veterinarians, technicians, and other professionals who are interested in improving the care and use of laboratory animals.

IALAS’ Mission

  • To facilitate interaction and communication between scientists and other professionals in regards to the care and use of laboratory animals in research, testing and education

  • To promote the development of research and other scientific use of laboratory animals in Indonesia.

  • To promote programs, guidelines, standards and policy for laboratory animal welfare in Indonesia.

AFLAS

IALAS has been a member of the Asian Federation for Laboratory Animal Science Associations (AFLAS) since 2012. The aim of AFLAS is to promote international co-operation Asian Congresses on Laboratory Animal Science for the purpose of reviewing scientific, technical and educational problems in Laboratory Animal Science, to develop other relevant activities in the interest of Laboratory Animal Science, and to contribute to animal welfare. Indonesian Laboratory Animal Veterinarians Association (ILAVA) or Asosiasi Dokter Hewan Praktisi Hewan Laboratorium Indonesia (ADHPHLI) is an organization under the Indonesian Veterinary Medical Association (IVMA) that serves as home to Indonesian veterinarians working in the field of laboratory animal medicine and science. ILAVA has been a strong partner of IALAS as they share the same mission to improve laboratory animal welfare and promote the proper care and use of animals in research, testing and education.

The Indonesian Association of Laboratory Animal Science (IALAS) or nationally known as Perhimpunan Peneliti dan Pengguna Hewan Laboratorium Indonesia is determined to serve as home to professionals in the country who are involved in the care and use of laboratory animals.

It is our mission to promote the field of Laboratory Animal Science, particularly to improve animal welfare and the standard of care and use of laboratory animals in research, testing and education in Indonesia.

We strongly believe that good animal welfare is key to achieve sound science, and we sincerely hope IALAS can work together with all interested parties to develop laboratory animal science in Indonesia.
