TRAINING AND WORKSHOP

IALAS collaborates with other organization, government agency and universities to organize training and workshop activities in the topic of Laboratory Animal Science. Since 2013, IALAS collaborates with the Primate Research Center at Bogor Agricultural University and Indonesian Laboratory Animal Veterinarians Association (ILAVA/ADHPHLI) to provide series of trainings (2-3 times per year) as organized by IPB International Training Center in Bogor, Indonesia. Topic covered in these trainings and workshops include IACUC, laboratory animal facility, animal model, laboratory animal medicine, proper research techniques, and others. IALAS are also open to opportunity to provide such activities in more institutions in the country.

AFLAS

IALAS has been a member of the Asian Federation for Laboratory Animal Science Associations (AFLAS) since 2012. The aim of AFLAS is to promote international co-operation Asian Congresses on Laboratory Animal Science for the purpose of reviewing scientific, technical and educational problems in Laboratory Animal Science, to develop other relevant activities in the interest of Laboratory Animal Science, and to contribute to animal welfare. IALAS INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE

IALAS is committed to host biennial International Conference on Laboratory Animal Science in order to keep IALAS members and other relevant stakeholders updated with the current development in the Laboratory Animal Science field. The first event was held on 23-25 July 2018 in IPB International Convention Center, with speakers and attendants from more than 8 countries.

Indonesian Laboratory Animal Veterinarians Association (ILAVA) or Asosiasi Dokter Hewan Praktisi Hewan Laboratorium Indonesia (ADHPHLI) is an organization under the Indonesian Veterinary Medical Association (IVMA) that serves as home to Indonesian veterinarians working in the field of laboratory animal medicine and science. ILAVA has been a strong partner of IALAS as they share the same mission to improve laboratory animal welfare and promote the proper care and use of animals in research, testing and education.

This workshop was held as a Pre-Conference session on July 23rd, 2018. A total of 49 participants attended the workshop. These participants were from various research and academic institutions in Indonesia.

This half-day workshop was organized as a pre-conference session. The instructors of the workshop were Dr. Vijay Pal Singh from CSIR-Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology, India and Dr. Tharanga Thoradeniya from University of Colombo, Sri Lanka. A total of 54 participants attended the workshop. Majority of the participants were IACUC members from various institutions, as well as lab animal veterinarians, animal welfare experts, and researchers/scientists.

IALAS Member General Meeting
July 25, 2018 - NEWS

General meeting of IALAS members was conducted on 24 July 2019. The meeting was aimed to reconstruct the committee of the association which was previously formed since the beginning of the establishment of the association. The meeting was attended by 35 members who successfully elected the new committee formation to include the Office Bearers and the Advisory Board for the period of 2018-2022 .

8th AFLAS Congress in Bangalore,
July 23, 2018 - NEWS

The president of IALAS accompanied by the vice president attended AFLAS council meeting on the 29th November 2018. The meeting was held during the 8th AFLAS Congress in Bangalore, India, 28th Nov. – 1st Dec. 2018. The council meeting discussed AFLAS updates including preparation of the coming 9th AFLAS congress which will be held on 22 – 26 June 2020 in Chiang Mai, Thailand. KALAS has been elected to host the 10th AFLAS Congress in 2022. During the AFLAS Congress, IALAS also gave presentation on some updates and upcoming programs pertaining to Laboratory Animal Science in Indonesia.
